The Pleasaunce Holiday, Conference
& Retreat Centre is set on the North Norfolk
coast in the charming village of Overstrand, two miles east
of Cromer, in an area known locally as ‘The Vale of Health’.
It is a fascinating, Grade 2 listed building, designed
for Lord and Lady Battersea by the young Edwin Lutyens, in
the 1890s.
Standing in 6 acres of secure, private grounds, The
Pleasaunce offers safe, modern play areas for children, and
delightful gardens in which to stroll, sit or enjoy the
peaceful surroundings of the rose garden, or to lose oneself
in a book in a sunny corner of the sunken garden, or in the
sheltered cloisters, with just the sound of the sea & the
birds as one’s sole accompaniment.

With 33 bedrooms The Pleasaunce offers a full range of
accommodation for up to 90. Bedrooms include en-suite
doubles, twins, family rooms for 3 to 6, & single rooms
without facilities. Every room is full of character and all
are different.
Many of the furnishings date from when the house was
constructed including a pair of golden Venetian lamps on the
main staircase, which were brought back to The Pleasaunce by
Lord and Lady Battersea, after one of their Italian trips.
